Elite Car Sound & Auto Electrical specialise in 7 Pin 2 Pin Trailer Plug Installations.
What are Trailer Plugs used for?
Trailer Plugs are used for towing & charging. Most vehicles come standard with a 7 pin socket which you can use for basic towing. However if your caravan is fitted with some extra accessories such as a Brake Away System, Electronic Stability Control or you want to connect a fridge power feed we can upgrade it to a 12 pin Trailer Plug.
How does a Trailer Plug Work?
A 7 pin trailer plug connects the following in your car to your caravan; 1. Left Hand Indicator 2. Reverse Lights 3. Return to Earth 4. Right Hand Indicator 5. Electric Brake Controller 6. Stop Lights 7. Tail Lights.
Upgrade to a 12 pin trailer plug to have 5 additional pins to connect things like; fridge ignition feed, brake away battery monitor, ESC or heavy earth return.
What do I need to organise?
We will request a wiring diagram from you if you have one or from your trailer or caravan manufacturer to ensure the pins on the tow vehicle match the trailer. We will assist with the this process to make it easier & stress free for you & to ensure you get the right setup that you require to tow your caravan or camper trailer.
We recommend putting a 12 pin flat on your vehicle as it will plug into a 7 pin flat or 12 pin flat on a trailer.
